Walking through Your Fear and Emerging Courageous

In walking through our fear,
we discover
that the strength of our fright was out of sync with reality.

The situations, activities, and individuals that frighten us remain static. Their relative intensity does not change. Fear, on the other hand, self-magnifies. It is when you are afraid and envisioning all that might go wrong that the energy underlying your fear grows. A tiny flicker of anxiety can easily develop into a terror that manifests itself physically and eventually paralyses you into inaction.

Honouring Brighid through Her Sacred Fires of Healing and Transformation

On Saturday, 6th February 2016 The Goddess House will be hosting a special event in honour of Brighid, the triple formed Celtic Goddess, Druidress and Saint, whose sacred day is 1st February.  While more commonly associated with spring in the Northern Hemisphere, it is Brighid's fiery aspect, relating to her inspirational, creative and transforming fires that we will be focusing on during this half day workshop.

Fire is one of the agents needed in the alchemical process that is reflected in the very landscape of this southern land as many native plants need fire in order to transform, to germinate.  Therefore, from drawing inspiration from the land we reside in, the goal is to transform (or at least obtain the keys to enable us to do this) via the fires of Brighid.

Serving your Community - Giving the Gift of You

As a priestess following a spiritual path, part of my role involves "service" - not only to the Gods for whom I perceive myself to be an earthly representative of, but also to the community around me.  the word "service" and indeed "community" often conjures up numerous interpretations and indeed not everyone perceives "service" as a community obligation (more often than not, "service" is a personal manner between the individual and the Gods of their own chose).  Yet, it is this "community service" that led me to host the first public Full Moon Gathering at Grange Beach in 2004.

In the following article, Madisyn Taylor explores what it means to "be of service" in a wider sense in that it is an action that enables us to be "a good citizen of the planet earth".

Letting go of Perfection

Life becomes much more interesting once we let go of our quest for perfection
and aspire for imperfection instead.

It is good to remember that one of our goals in life is to not be perfect. We often lose track of this aspiration. When we make mistakes, we think that we are failing or not measuring up.  But if life is about experimenting, experiencing, and learning, then to be imperfect is a prerequisite. Life becomes much more interesting once we let go of our quest for perfection and aspire for imperfection instead.

This does not mean that we do not strive to be our best. We simply accept that there is no such thing as perfection—especially in life.

Taming the Monkey Mind

We all have the endless chattering and noise in our head often referred to as the monkey mind.

It has been called the monkey mind – the endless chattering in your head as you jump in your mind from thought to thought while you daydream, analyze your relationships, or worry over the future. Eventually, you start to feel like your thoughts are spinning in circles and you are left totally confused.
